History
This year, I studied US history. I had always placed US history in a more 'boring' category of history. That is, before this year. This year, I started learning history with a perspective of fascination and excitement, brought out by my energetic history teacher. We touched back on a bit of my previous knowledge of the constitution, and from there, glided into the topic of government creation, then the War of 1812. Since then, we have been covering many complex parts of early US history. This year, I logged onto every Zoom meeting with my history teacher feeling a sense of intrigue, and a new fire for learning. Below is a compilation of my work completed during my time working with my history teacher this year.
War Recruitment Poster
This was the first activity I completed as homework for History class. It was the product of an assignment to create a war recruitment poster for the war of Lexington and Concord. I was supposed to create a war recruitment poster, recruiting people to fight against England. This was a big ask because England had the number one army at the time! Above is my poster.
Declaration of Independence-Modernized
Above is a creative activity I completed after a class on the Declaration of Independence. During our class, my teacher comically summarized the Declaration of Independence as 'The greatest breakup letter in history.' During my homework, I treated the assignment exactly so. The only difference, however, was that my version of the Declaration of Independence was modernized to a 2023 version. To complete this activity, I wrote the Declaration of Independence in a text message format, and I included a bountiful amount of slang. I even had to google some modern slang to add to my vocabulary when writing the 'text message'.
Character Profile-Abigail Adams
Abigail Adams was considered a war hero during the war of Lexington and Concord for many reasons. But the most important reason was her outstanding will to go above and beyond, especially in areas that were controversial or silenced by the government. Abigail Adams was not afraid to speak her mind, and that is what I find the most courageous about this character. Above is a short profile of Abigail Adams.
The Moto-Wagon
The Industrial Revolution was a time of innovation, creativity, and expansion throughout the United States. This time period brought not only floods of foreigners from Europe but also hundreds of new time-saving inventions. Some of those more staple ones included canals, plows, and The Reaper. My task for this project was to create my very own invention of the time. First, I thought of the main problems and flaws people had and faced back then. I thought of possible solutions. The product of all this thinking was the Motorized Wagon, which can be viewed above.
